Schild Estate
Barossa Shiraz 2007

Just 240 bottles available!

Plump, round, extremely polished. Integrated fruit that seems way to put together for such a young wine. 14.5% Alc, not a hint of heat, just jammy, soft chewy fruit. Outstanding.

Back in November we voiced the virtues of the 2006 Schild Estate Shiraz as an outstanding "drink now" value while we wait for the arrival of the highly hyped 2007 to arrive into stock. We're happy to report that the time is now, and we're stocked with this Wine Spectator "Top 100" selection.

This family owned Barossa property flys well below the radar, but when you look into it a bit, you quickly find that they are press darlings. Virtually every vintage receives marks in the low to mid 90's and the wine is now selected as one of Wine Specator's top 100 wines of the year for the second time! Checking in at #43 out of 10's or thousands, they rewarded this value with 92 points and said this:

"Polished and generous, offering a racy mouthful of tobacco-accented cherry and black currant fruit that finishes with an edge of dried sage, licorice and fresh cream. This lingers impressively, showing amazing depth. Drink now through 2017. 8,200 cases made."

Even beyond that, in the October 15th issue of Wine Spectator, in an article titled "500 Great Buys" which true to it's title highlights 500 of the worlds best wine buys (in their opinion), the 2007 Schild Estate Shiraz was at the very front of the pack, checking in at #1. Could this be the worlds top wine value? In our opinion that's a strong statement, but we'll leave it up to you to decide. More WS notes:

"92 $20 SCHILD Shiraz Barossa 2007
The Schild family of Australia has a long tradition of over-delivering on quality. The Schilds are one of the largest independent growers in the Barossa region, owning more than 400 acres of vines, and the family has been growing grapes since the early 1950s. The fruit for this bottling comes from the Ahrens and Angus Brae vineyards, which experienced an unusually early harvest in 2007. Ripeness wasn’t an issue—the finished version has 14.5 percent alcohol—and the wine went through extended maturation in both new and old American oak. The result is polished, generous and amazingly deep, with tobacco-accented cherry and black currant fruit flavors. Many previous vintages of this Shiraz have also performed well, and the 2005 bottling was No. 16 in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2007."

No one should miss this opportunity. Whether it's the worlds best buy or just another great value, the stuff is truly delicious and is an incredible value. Once Daily knocks it down from the normal $25.00 price just $19.60. A savings of 22%. Normally, when a wine receives press like this, the price sky rockets. Not at Bin Ends!

240 bottles available online.
