Why should I use Social Media?

Tweet? Are you a bird? Follow? No I am a leader! Become a friend of yours? But I talk to you everyday!  Be your Fan?  I cheer the loudest for you!  Join your network?  HUH??

Twitter...Facebook...LinkedIn are the BIGGEST 3 mediums for Social Networking.  If you are not participating in any or none, you are not marketing to all your customers
But I talk to my customers all the tiime!  Did you know that since Comcast has started doing customer service on Twitter, they have increased both sales and status in 2 monthsJust from doing customer service from twitter.  You heard the story?  A customer boisted their issue on twitter and immediately got a response from @comcastcares, immediately word spread that Comcast's customer service was on twitter.  IMMEDIATELY!!

So what is different about all of the 3 major sites?
Twitter ButtonTwitter is labeled as the "funnest", and the one that people have joined more often.  You can add your photo and a bio about you or your business.  You can create your own background (check out the sample I have created) and you can post specials or your blog, immediately.  News can be posted and read by "followers" immediately.  You can meet people that you didn't think you would meet.  :)

Facebook LogoUnlike Twitter, with Facebook or LinkedIn, you cannot create custom backgrounds.  With Facebook the "page" (not the profile), if you are a business, can be built custom-wise, though.  You have all sorts of add-ins you can do.  You can post your contact info and your latest blog, video, etc.  You can read the subscriptions from your RSS feed in your facebook.  You can subscribe to others blogs and read them if you don't want the RSS Feed.  You can post a "Join my newsletter" link in your Facebook page and people can join right there.

LinkedIn LogoLinkedIn is more of a network community.  One thing I love about Linkedin is that people will post questions and what I like to do is see if I can help someone answer them or see what others have said and see if my response would have been different.  I met a great friend on LinkedIn that may one day turn into a great business relationship.  I say that because our businesses are so similiar that we could not use each other as a lead but we can bounce ideas and help each other out.  LinkedIn also will tell you who may be a connection to someone who you are linked with, so you can expand your network.  You can also fill out your work history, education, and interests and if someone types in something that matches your skillset, they can connect with you and it could lead to a better job situation.

So, now you want to join them, but you don't have time or energy?

I can assist you with all three.  I am a follower on twitter, I have been fanned on Facebook and I have network connections on LinkedIn.  If you are interested in getting set up, please contact me for more information.

Food For Thought

I will leave you with a thought from someone I follow on Twitter, do you know who it is?
