Celebrate Valentine's Day
at The Alhambra's
Daddy-Daughter Dance A great party and a $35 kids ticket for a truly unique experience!
With Valentine's Day on a Sunday this year (and with no school on Monday the 15th) the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining is launching a new tradition – it’s first-ever Daddy-Daughter Dance. As a special one-day only event, we're inviting dads to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their daughters for dinner (or brunch at the matinee) and a show – and dancing at the intermission. For Sunday's matinee and evening shows, a child ticket is just $35, plus each child will receive a High School Musical On Stage Collectible Merchandise Package.
In addition, each adult will be entered into a drawing for a romantic getaway to a suite at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.
If you’ve followed the story at all, you know that my 10-year old daughter had a lot to do with why I wanted to buy this theatre. She has inspired me again, and we want to invite all the dads to share a really nice day or evening with their daughters. Most of us spent the last 18 Sundays watching football, so this seems like the perfect way get back in touch. While it's a fun show for anyone, High School Musical on Stage is a great family show. HSM is really a love story -- about loving what you do and following your heart. It's a great family message. So we're tying Valentine’s Day and The Alhambra together this year, and inviting dads to take their daughters to celebrate Valentine's Day with us. A great show, a great brunch or dinner and a little dancing -- and no school on Monday.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Happy Valentines's Day, Craig Smith www.alhambrajax.com

HSM Casting Call Night a Huge Hit

They arrived by limousine like movie stars, and walked down the red carpet like they’ve done it a million times. With a crowd of more than 100 onlookers behind the ropes, they posed for photos, high-fived the real cast and soaked in their moment. And for Josh Johnson, Caylin Housley and Tasia Bosch, three young actors who won an open casting call more than a month ago, it was a long day of great moments that culminated when they took the stage for a SOLD OUT show at the Alhambra Theatre on January 30 for a guest role in Disney’s High School Musical On Stage.

Joshua Johnson, 10, of Mandarin, Caylin Housley, 13, of Fernandina, and Tasia Bosch, 13, of Atlantic Beach, outperformed more than 100 child actors, dancers and singers in the Alhambra’s first-ever open casting call on Monday, December 28, and they participated together on January 30 in the Alhambra’s presentation of Disney’s High School On Stage. Open to child performers between the ages of 8 and 14, contestants were originally invited to demonstrate their own performance strength in front of five judges. The original plan was for those judges to select one winner for a quick cameo, but these three were so talented that they were all asked to perform, and they were actually worked into three different numbers throughout the performance. Soontaree Jaisin-Simms the show’s choreographer who was tasked with getting the kids ready was impressed with their dedication and their performance. “These guys amazed me,” she stated. “They were asked to do something most trained adult actors would be challenged with: step into a show that is already in production, learn lyrics and dance steps for three high energy songs in just three days. And then they came in here to a full house and nailed it. They worked hard and they pulled it off. They’re passionate, dedicated and really seem to enjoy it. They’re going to go places. They were so much fun to work with.”
