May 27, 2010 Dear Friend, As someone who receives our email newsletters, you are clearly someone interested in the activities and events we offer. Thank you for your past and past support of Atlanta Film Festival 365. Membership and additional support allows us to fulfill our mission to lead the community in creative and cultural discovery through the moving image.
If you are a current member--allow me to thank you!
If you're among the thousands of non-members who receive our weekly blast or if you simply allowed you membership to lapse without renewing it, then I invite you to RENEW OR JOIN TODAY!In these demanding times, the Atlanta Film Festival 365 needs your support more than ever. While fulfilling our mission to the Metropolitan Atlanta community, we have actually increased free offerings--from free screenings at our flagship 2010 Atlanta Film Festival in April, to a major increase in our free educational offerings—including daily “Coffeehouse Conversations” with such notables as Scott Mosier, Ray McKinnon, Molly Mayeux, Tom Luse, and Basil Tsiokos, and a series of free sessions of Kodak’s signature “Stop By, Shoot Film” hands-on camera workshop.
In the coming months, thanks to member support, ATL Film 365 will offer a variety of exciting educational opportunities—free and open to the public—including an exciting 3D primer with Quantel (whose Red Camera work-flow in 2009 was a major hit) and a look behind the scenes at PC&E, to name a few. As a show of thanks to our members, we offer an exclusive benefits package—including invitations to sneak preview screenings of hit indie films, discounted (and sometimes free!) tickets to our offerings as well as participating venues like the Coca-Cola Fox Summer Film Series (see below!) and Fernbank. Our members also come together annually to celebrate each December at the ATL Film 365 holiday bash. By joining, or pledging additional support, you allow us to DO so much MORE.
Thank you for supporting our mission.
Best,
Gabriel Wardell Executive Director Atlanta Film Festival 365

2010 Atlanta Film Festival Alums On DVD NO CROSSOVER: THE TRIAL OF ALLEN IVERSON
"With "No Crossover," James has created a picture of Iverson that appears to be closer to who he actually is than anything we've ever seen. It's at once troubling, exciting, fascinating, maddening and enlightening -- a complicated and rich film that, like its titular subject, defies categorization and offers no easy answers." - Dan Devine, Ball Don't Lie - Yahoo Sports
Comcast On Demand - ATL Film 365 Recommends NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT PERSIAN CATS
Though the Twitterverse has moved on and green avatars are no longer in vogue, the recent jailing of filmmaker Jafar Panahi for more than two months is evidence that the struggle for freedom in Iran is still going on. Director Bahman Ghobadi (A TIME FOR DRUNKEN HORSES, TURTLES CAN FLY) tackles cultural repression with humor and underground rock and roll with NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT PERSIAN CATS. An underground band conspires with a music promoter to escape to Europe to pursue a music career with freedom, but before they leave they want to play one more show in Tehran. Their risky endeavor, under threat of arrest, takes them through the vibrant underground artistic community of Iran's capital city. Once each movie begins playing, the audience reaction spurs the three judges to either let the movie continue playing or to “gong” it out and stop the movie. Each movie that plays in its entirety is then scored by the judges to determine the winner. The James Joyce Irish Pub 22 N. Avondale Rd.
