2007 ATLFF Screenplay Alum RESISTANCE in Development

ATLFF Screenwriters Retreat alum Caitlin McCarthy has announced that her script RESISTANCE (formerly known as VERA) is in development with award-winning UK director Si Wall.

RESISTANCE is a historical drama about Vera Laska who, as a teenager, defied statistics and lasted three years as a WWII Czechoslovak Resistance fighter (instead of the average six months); survived Auschwitz as a political prisoner; and escaped the Nazis during a death march.

Comcast On Demand - ATL365 Recommends

Charles RecommendsThe Emperor's New Groove

The Emperor's New Groove

THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE is an odd film in the Disney canon. Abusrdist in tone, it aligns more with the Looney Tunes and the Warner Bros. cartoons of the 1990s such as the ANIMANIACS and FREAKAZOID than BEAUTY AND THE BEAST or MULAN. It's also the odd Disney film because it lampoons so many classic Disney cliches. Standouts in the voice department are Patrick Warburton as Kronk and the late Eartha Kitt as Yzma. And yes that is Tom Jones singing the opening song.

Weekly Film Quote

Jeff Megall: Sony has a futuristic sci-fi movie they're looking to make.
Nick Naylor: Cigarettes in space?
Jeff Megall: It's the final frontier, Nick.
Nick Naylor: But wouldn't they blow up in an all oxygen environment?
Jeff Megall: Probably. But it's an easy fix. One line of dialogue. 'Thank God we invented the... you know, whatever device.'
