Summer is the time to volunteer!
With summer approaching, we are always in need of volunteers to help out. Whether it is helping with the youth, serving food, or volunteering at our new Adams Family Campus(opening soon), there are many ways to get involved. Working with a group? Put on a Food Drive this summer while food donations are down.

Mentoring youth at Tyler Family Campus
The youth program at Tyler St. Family Campus partners with Mentor 253, a local program from the Northwest Leadership Foundation. James Leet, our youth director, expressed his thoughts on the influence mentors have had on children and teens at Tyler:

Mentoring has meant consistency, friendship, and renewed youthfulness for many of the kids.

Consistency- in knowing they can count on a weekly meeting with someone positive; it may be one of the only stable relationships they have in their lives.

Friendship- teaching the value of healthy relationships and communication has been huge. Kids learn that when they hurt someone else, there is forgiveness; or if they fail to show up for a mentor meeting it doesn’t mean the relationship is over.

Renewed Youthfulness- seeing kids being kids has been great! When with their mentors, children receive time and space to not worry about housing, food, pleasing their parent, teacher, youth worker, etc. It is a time when they genuinely get to be kids and not worry about the grown up details in their lives.
