Having lived around here our entire lives you think we would get used to it. For whatever reason, each year as the days get shorter, it seems like it is happening for the first time. Energy levels wane with the daylight and the motivation to get out and recreate requires a headlamp and much more coffee than usual. The nearing of the solstice and the first day of winter owes its excitement to the fact that the days will get longer, the snowpack deeper, and the holidays will be in full swing. But still, you think we'd be used to it by now...
It has been a while since the last Buzz. This isn't because there hasn't been much to report, rather quite the opposite. It is an exciting time for DBR and we've been putting the short days to good use.
The biggest news, especially for those of you in the Roaring Fork Valley, is that the Defiant Bean Roaster's Espresso and Coffee Bar will be open for business on December 20, 2010. The bar is located in the front of the Cook a la Carte store at 809 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and will feature our Fair Trade Organic coffees. Our menu is closer to what you might find in Naples, Italy, than to what most American coffee drinkers have come to expect at the more popular chain coffee establishments. You will enjoy detail and quality in your drink that you will find nowhere else in the Valley. Bring your own mug for a 10 percent discount.
