Noticed the change?

If you are a “That’s Correct” regular you’ll have noticed that in the last couple of months, the format of our newsletter has evolved once again.  We’ve taken our marketing to the cloud!  Utilising an online tool we can easily create and share our newsletter content.  After having road tested it for a couple of months, we can safely say we love it.

However, it is unlike us to keep something so handy a secret…and in that regard; here are some things we love about mailchip.com:

The price is right – there are paid versions if you have a large contact list, but there is a free account that is 100% free and allows up to 500 contacts to be added to your mailing lists, and up to 3000 mail outs per month!  The only requirement is that your email gets sent out with the MailChimp affiliate logo on the bottom.

It is super easy to use – from the initial set up of the account, to designing email templates and launching campaigns, the system is very user friendly.  There are loads of video tutorials and a tips and tricks newsletter that contains marketing advice and deliverability tips.

Detailed analytics – the real gem in this online toolset is the ability to analyse your campaigns.  What are your readers really interested in?  How many emails bounced, how many were forwarded?  Every marketing campaign gives you insights into what you are doing right and more importantly, what you are doing wrong!

Get up, stand up...

Did you know…HP supplies ergonomic solutions such as notebook and monitor stands

If you have two monitors, dock your notebook or utilise a second monitor to enable dual screen when using your notebook, HP have a range of monitor & notebook stands to suit!

Why is this important?

We have previously mentioned workplace ergonomics in “That’s Correct”.  Properly kitting out your desktop environment goes a long way to reducing the risk of health problems that can occur due to prolonged work at a computer.

What’s your .CO?

Can you believe it has been 25 years since the launch of “.COM”?  There are reportedly more than 90 million domain names registered in the .COM extension – finding a unique, recognisable domain name for your business can be difficult!

"The launch of the .CO domain represents the next phase in the growth and development of the Internet," said Juan Diego Calle, CEO of .CO Internet. "The .CO domain will create new opportunities in global commerce, content development, social media and other forms of interactivity, which will enrich the overall Internet experience for everyone." Perhaps you don’t have exactly the domain name you really want - or your current domain name could be shortened - now is your chance.  The new .CO domains; quick to type and easy to remember!

For companies that may be expanding their services from Australia to the rest of the world, you can have both a .com.au and a .co domain for both your email and website.  Get in quickly to get the domain you always wanted.

Smooth Moves...

A few years ago, That’s Correct featured an article about “The Windows Key” and how, when used in conjunction with other keys, you can perform handy shortcuts to navigate around your computer.  In our office, the Windows Key gets used daily – if you’d like to revisit that article and see how, click here

Microsoft Office applications also have a number of keyboard shortcuts to speed up formatting – some of these are the same across the Office platform (and commonly used) – such as Copy, Paste, Bold and Underline.  Some however, are exclusive to Microsoft Excel and for anyone who uses that particular application daily, we are confident you’ll want to incorporate some of these into your keyboard shortcut repertoire.

(Note: + means “in combination with”; not the + key)

CTRL + S
SAVE!  This command saves the active file with its current file name, location and file format. Every so often, just press CTRL and ‘S’ and your file gets saved.

CTRL + 1
Displays the Format Cells dialogue box, which includes all of your formatting options.

ALT + F1
This is quite possibly the most useful feature of Excel. It creates a chart of the selected data.

CTRL + F2
Displays the Print Preview window so you know how your document would look on paper.

CTRL + K
Displays the Hyperlink dialogue box for new or existing hyperlinks. Clicking hyperlinks in Excel can link to a website, open a separate specified file, open a compose e-mail window, or take you to a spot in the document you’re working in.

CTRL + SHIFT + &
Applies the outline border to the selected cell, which can make your spread sheet easier to read and look more professional.

ALT + =
Inserts an AutoSum formula with the SUM function. Meaning that it will calculate the sum of a nearby series of cells or individual cells you select.
