Welcome to the August Edition of "That's Correct"!

This month:

We’ll kick off a series of mobile phone reviews, so if you are in the market for a new handset you’re going to want to keep your eye on the next few editions.

We bring you some very important news - if you haven't road-tested a Windows 7 machine on your network yet, you need to be aware of it.

We also take a moment to introduce the newest members of the Correct Solutions family…

No more XP Downgrade Media

From a supply chain perspective, please be aware that from the 1 October, Hewlett-Packard will no longer provide XP Pro downgrade media.  This is in preparation for Microsoft’s ending the XP Pro Downgrade beginning 22nd October, 2010.

Up until now, we had the option to install either Windows 7 or XP Pro on the majority of new PCs we sourced for clients.  With this announcement, the direction is fairly clear – the way forward is Windows 7.

With this in mind, if you haven't yet tested a Windows 7 machine on your network, please call us to discuss your implementation strategy further.

Phone Review:
Samsung Galaxy S

Pros: Amazing screen, TV out, HD capabilities, support for all different formats of video, FM Radio… the list goes on and on.

Cons:  Lack of “entertainment” applications, Full of Samsung applications that are next to useless, no camera flash.

Quite simply put, the Galaxy S is an awesome phone. The Galaxy is sporting a 1GHz processor, a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, 16gb of built-in storage (which is also expandable by adding up to 32gb worth of microSD!) and one big advantage over the iPhone- the ability to hold it however you want.

Running Android 2.1, the Galaxy S is very customisable. You have 7 pages worth of home screen that can be chocked full of different applications, folders, shortcuts or widgets.  You are also able to jump directly to the home screen page you want by hitting the little numbers up the top.

The phone itself has fantastic battery life, stating it has roughly 750 hours (using a 2g connection) and 576 hours (using 3g) worth of standby time.  From a business perspective, the phone is able to sync with Exchange (contacts, calendar and email), has Wi-Fi (802.11 B, G AND N!), Bluetooth for using hands-free, GPS capabilities, Office document editor and a PDF reader.

From an entertainment perspective, you’re looking at a 5MP camera that can record 720p video at 30 frames per second, video playback for multiple formats, Google Talk functionality, a radio and a whole plethora of apps from the Android Marketplace.

Overall, the Galaxy S is a phone worth considering if you are looking at an alternative to an iPhone.  The user interface will be very familiar to you if you have used an iPhone previously and you will be impressed with both the big and little features the phone brings you.

That’s all for this month! Next month we'll have another mobile handset review for you, and of course if you’d like more information on any of the topics in this edition of our Newsletter, feel free to contact our office to discuss further.

The Correct family grows…

A very new edition.

As some of you might be aware (and for those that are not), a new edition arrived on 31st July.

Erinn Dorothy Spillane was born, arriving a week early to the surprise of most.  We say most as Ryan took the day off work to "prepare" for the arrival, which just happened to coincide with the day of birth.

Proud dad Ryan took no time at all to take her to the office to give her a tour and show her off to all the staff.

Three and a half weeks on and little Erinn has changed so much.  We look forward to what else is to come over the next few fulfilled years!
