Dear Good News Magazine Subscriber,
What is God doing?
Face it—many people have a problem with God. Many find it impossible to believe in a divine being who, while being all-knowing and all-powerful, could allow a world of so much evil and suffering. Surely if God exists, they reason, wouldn't He intervene to put an end to the misery that we see all around us?
Others believe in God's existence, but they're deeply troubled by the same things. Why doesn't God show Himself? How could He allow evil madmen like Hitler, Stalin and Mao to murder millions of human beings? How could He allow war, famine and drought? Why doesn't He step in and put an end to these tragedies?
These are crucial questions. They've been asked for centuries. Few questions could be more important. Is there an answer? If so, what is it?
We could say it all boils down to one question: What is God doing?
Could it be that our perceptions and expectations are off base? What if God indeed has a plan that He is working out, but that plan isn't what we expect Him to do?
This, of course, would mean that some of our ideas about God are flawed, that our understanding is faulty. Is it possible that God has a plan that He has revealed, but we weren't listening? Could it be that we haven't paid close enough attention to His Bible to pick up on what He reveals to us there?
 These issues and more are covered in the next edition of The Good News. In its pages we explore the issue of suffering—and look at what God plans to do about it and when. We explore the great plan that He reveals in His Word—a plan in which the major steps are outlined in a series of little-understood festivals found in the Bible. We explore the key role of Jesus Christ in that plan—what He has done, what He is doing and what Bible prophecy reveals He will yet do in carrying out His part of that plan.
