Dear Good News Magazine Subscriber, Recently I had an interesting experience trying to register for a conference on evolution and intelligent design. Over the course of two days I must have tried a dozen or more times to register via the Web site, only to find that the site was unavailable. Undeterred, I tracked down their phone number and called—only to find that I wasn't able to get through that way, either. Hoping for the best, and since it was only an hour's drive from my home, I went anyway and to my relief was able to attend with no problem. There I learned why I wasn't able to get through via either the Web site or by phone. It seems that word of the conference had gotten out to the community of "open-minded," "truth-seeking" "Darwinian evolutionists, and they'd responded by repeatedly hacking and crashing the conference Web site and flooding the phone system with calls so those genuinely wanting to attend the conference couldn't even begin to get through. So much for open-mindedness and following the scientific principle of examining the evidence wherever it leads! The conference itself was highly educational and enlightening. The speakers discussed the latest scientific findings as they relate to Darwinian evolution and intelligent design, some of the major problems with Darwinian evolution that are seldom admitted or acknowledged, and myths of evolution that still show up in textbooks and scientific literature. I was impressed that conference organizers had sent invitations to all nearby high school and college science faculty offering them free admission, but regrettably it appeared that few took them up on their offer. Most sobering was one presentation on the far-reaching impact the theory of evolution has had on modern culture and thinking. Among other things, it has affected our attitudes toward the dignity and sanctity of human life, our ethics and morality and our beliefs about God. Darwin's ideas about natural selection have been applied to human society and used to justify racism, abortion, infanticide and genocide. Sadly, in many countries students and educators have found themselves subject to expulsion and persecution for questioning Darwinism. If the evidence for Darwinian evolution is so strong, why such attacks to silence its critics? You need to educate yourself on these crucial issues—for your own sake, for that of your family and children, for the good of society around you.
