BIM vs. CAD
Computer Animated Drafting (CAD) is shifting towards a new era known as Building Information Modeling (BIM).  BIM enables Facility Owners and their representatives to perform a virtual walk-through of a 3-dimentional (3D) image of their project.  It allows for extensive examination of building data prior to a structure being built as well as presenting the opportunity to manage data input throughout the duration of the building process.

NEI Electric is using BIM on a current hospital expansion project in Saint Paul, MN.  BIM has allowed NEI to install critical home runs well in advance to prevent rework for other trades.  We are able to install conduit and junction boxes around HVAC duct work and plumbing piping with minimal room for error.  BIM reduces our need for change orders and increases efficiency on the project site. Read more about BIM vs. CAD >>

Preparing for the Change of Seasons...  Most people in the Midwest thoroughly enjoy autumn with its warm, sunny days and cool evenings.  It is a time that family routines are re-established, outdoor enthusiasts are in their glory and there are sports and events to keep everyone entertained.  The beauty of fall is spectacular with the brilliant hues of the changing leaves, the deepening blues of the lakes & rivers as well as the colors and smells of the fall harvest.  A beautiful and wonderful time of year!

However, we all know that winter is just around the corner.  Preparing ourselves, our homes or facilities and our vehicles in advance of the cold weather will help us survive the inevitable and maybe help us enjoy winter more.  NEI Electric can help you with some of those preparations: updating exterior lighting for safety, adding GFCI circuits for exterior holiday lights, installing hard-wired smoke & CO2 detectors to meet new laws and especially for your safety, wiring for emergency generators, adding electric heat or programmable thermostats, helping with your fall remodeling projects, the list goes on….

A History Moment... Recorded in the 1956 Permit Log, the cost of the minimum electrical permit fee was $2; the current minimum fee is $40.  The founders of NEI Electric believed in doing the job right the first time, following the National Electrical Code and making it easy for the electrical inspectors to do their job.  We continue that philosophy to this day… provide quality electrical installations at competitive prices and make it easy for the customer to use our services.
