Instructor Profile: Brad Guy Brad first came to teach at Yestermorrow back in 2006 as part of our EPA-funded Deconstruction Institute. Since then he’s continued to add a unique element to our sustainable building and design curriculum, focusing on deconstruction and re-use. In addition to being trained as an architect and LEED AP, Brad’s areas of expertise include sustainable community development, green building, building deconstruction, and the reuse and recycling of materials. This includes 30 research and training-based d econstruction projects and multiple design/build projects utilizing reclaimed materials, recently on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Brad was recently profiled in the New York Times for his work in deconstruction. He will be co-teaching an upcoming Yestermorrow course, Design for Deconstruction and Reconstruction, July 18-24 in which students will work on the disassembly of a historic local barn and have the opportunity to build with some of the barn materials. Limited spaces are still available in this course- register today!
Thank You to Our 30th Anniversary Participants
Thank you to all alumni, instructors, former interns, board members and friends (over 100 total) who joined us May 15th to help us celebrate our 30th Anniversary. A lot of hard work went into projects around campus: rebuilding our solar water heater, setting up the new herb garden, new front entry perennial beds, clearing trees and bush, stacking wood and overall campus cleanup. We greatly appreciate all the contributions everyone made. Thank you to John Connell, Kate Stephenson, and all our Pecha Kucha presenters for the story telling and inspiration. Cheers to the next 30 years and beyond!
