Designing and Building a Sustainable Future May 2010 Newsletter
30th Anniversary Reunion In honor of Yestermorrow's 30th Anniversary, we invite alumni, instructors, past staff and friends of the school to join us for a Reunion Celebration on May 15, 2010, starting at 9am and continuing into the evening. Even if you've never taken a class here, this is a great opportunity to get to know what's happening at the school. Click here for a schedule of the day's events. One highlight of the day will be our 2nd annual Pecha Kucha presentation at 8:00pm, which will feature a whirlwind slideshow from twelve different members of the Yestermorrow community, 20 slides and 20 seconds each. It's a great opportunity to see some of the amazing work of our faculty, students and interns. The day-long celebration is free and open to all. RSVP here.
Solar Tracker Installation Yestermorrow and AllEarth Renewables, Inc. of Williston, Vermont have partnered to install seven AllSun Trackers® on the school’s campus. Over the course of a year, the 28 kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic array is expected to produce enough electricity to power over 90% of the electricity used in Yestermorrow’s main classroom facility. This initiative is part of our school master plan to implement and promote renewable energy systems and transition from fossil fuel use. Read more...
John Connell Interview
In preparation for our upcoming 30th Anniversary Reunion we decided to check in with Yestermorrow's founder, John Connell, on what he's observed about the School over the last 30 years. While much has changed, John says the thing that's stayed the same is "The people! The school is still the net result of an incredible group of outstanding people. It's these people that generate the school's gravitational pull, bringing in more of the same. " Read the full interview on the Yestermorrow blog...
Welcome New Summer Interns This month we're welcoming a new cohort of interns including Julie Kowal, our Community Outreach Intern, and Alex Sauer and Lindley Brainard, Design/Build interns. Yestermorrow's internship program is one of the highlights of our educational program, bringing 12 aspiring design/build professionals to the school each year for an in-depth 6 to 12 month learning experience.
