Designing and Building a Sustainable Future April 2010 Newsletter
Woodworking Intensive Graduation This Friday Help us celebrate the completion of our first Woodworking Intensive program with an open house and graduation ceremony on Friday April 9th from 4:00-6:00 pm. The Woodworking Intensive is a unique program that gives amateurs and aspiring professionals a solid grounding in practical woodworking and furniture making techniques. Led by Yestermorrow's talented and nationally recognized faculty, including Peter Buley, Eyrich Stauffer, Skip Dewhirst, Larry Jacquette, John McCown, Mark Krawczyk, and others, the program offers students exposure to a wide range of woodworking styles and techniques. On Friday each of the 8 students will present their work from the past 10 weeks. The public is welcome and light refreshments will be served.
Architects Take Center Stage Architects take center stage this May as Yestermorrow board member and instructor Kyle Bergman presents June Finfer’s play The Glass House at The Clurman Theater at 410 West 42nd Street in New York. The design and building of Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House and Philip Johnson’s Glass House is the background for The Glass House's penetrating plot that entwines the epic conflict between artist and patron. The play, performed by the Resonance Ensemble, explores the classic dramatic struggles of ambition, passion and betrayal. Performances will run May 9 through June 5. Friends of Yestermorrow can get special ticket pricing ($15.00) with the coupon code 'GLSS' through Ticket Central at 212.279.4200 or at www.ticketcentral.com.
