Return Of The All Stripes!
It's hard to believe that there was a time not that long ago that we were pulling together the minimum number of skaters we needed to survive a bout. Due to a lot of hard work, regrouping, and dedication on and off the track, we are happy to be in a position that we not only have one healthy team roster but TWO! For some of you who have been fans for a long time, you may remember the debut of the Dominion All Stripes against the Wilmington Ruff Rollers back in 2008. Due to some league level challenges (that we have since pushed through) the All Stripes did not compete last season. We simply did not have the numbers to field two teams.
It's amazing that the old saying "Time heals all wounds" rings true again. We've rebuilt our league and our teams and it is our great pleasure to reintroduce the Dominion Derby Girls All Stripes! These ladies will compete for the first time this season on the road against the Carolina Bootleggers on April 18th and at home a little later in the season, representing Dominion at non-sanctioned bouts, playing teams from WFTDA member leagues and non-WFTDA leagues alike. Ladies competing on this team gain the opportunity to play and grow their skills while playing the best sport on eight wheels, ROLLER DERBY! For those skaters who aspire to make it on to the All Star roster, this will give them a chance to earn their "Stripes" on their way to becoming a "Star". Being that we are a military town and the most patriotic community around, I know you will be proud to support the Dominion Derby Girls "Stars and Stripes" together as they take on multiple opponents from around the country throughout the 2010 season!
