Another school year past, and we’re already getting ready for the next! Here’s a quick recap of our spring semester. Urbana Urbana 2010 saw some amazing numbers: 15,800 attendees, 2,232 new and renewed commitments to following Jesus as LORD, 2,676 long-term missionary commitments, and 4,990 short-term missions commitments. One of our student leaders began her journey toward coming on staff and interviewed at Urbana, and other students were burdened with the LORD’s heart toward the nations, women, and international students. MCM You’ve read about Missional Christian Mobilization, but now we can look back on our last year of meetings and see that the LORD really did move through the meetings! Both semesters saw students turning their lives more toward the LORD, commiting their lives to serve him missionally, and growing in maturity and wisdom! We couldn’t be happier with how the meetings turned out. Some IV girls hanging out at the end-of-the-year party. Welcome to the Family! Two of our small groups saw members come to the LORD this year! Berry got the opportunity to help Alisa* give her life to the LORD, and Rekha’s small group was also instrumental in seeing Jennifer* devote her life to Jesus! We’ve been so blessed to see God move in students’ hearts. Chapter Camp Regarding a time of prayer in Leadership Track, Nina* said, “This is the first time I really feel like I heard God speak to me.” Another of our students gave a testimony in front of the entire camp about God’s work in her life at Camp, and another is making firm commitments for the first time to transform her life for Christ! Yet another one of our students, who was in the Small Group Leaders’ Track, has responded to what she learned by committed to leading a small group Bible study for gay students. Ministry to Hindus At Urbana I learned about college ministry to Hindus, the largest and most unreached International Student group on US college campuses. We‘ve already seen one Hindu student give their life to Christ, and God seems to be moving our chapter--especially our South Asian small group--toward learning about and ministering to the Hindu Community at UF! Funding Competition We’re involved in a funding competition this June, and I could win $2,500 with your help. Click here to see a brief letter from my divisional director about this competition. Essentially, the four Florida IV staff who raise the most in the month of June (our year-end) will get a $2500 grant toward our fundraising. Would you consider increasing your scheduled gift or giving a one-time gift for this June? If so, please give me a call so I know it's coming. If not, please pray that I would make new connections with people and find new supporters so I can get this grant! *some names changed to protect students |
