Dear <<First Name>>,
Happy New Year from Drew and Scott at Satellite Test Prep!
As we begin the second semester and the new year, Satellite Prep is very excited to announce this first installment of a ten week campaign to share some gems of test prep with you.
Each week we will feature one of our Ten Commandments of Standardized Test Taking, along with a video tutorial of a challenging SAT or ACT math question, and ten new vocabulary words (both in column on left)
Commandment #1: BUILD YOUR BOAT
The best way not to sink in the ocean of the standardized test is to build a solid "boat" to float upon. Give your boat sturdy foundations.
1) Know your test content and formulas
2) Know your techniques
3) Practice smarter
4) Know your test

PRACTICAL CORNER
The start of the year is a great time for students to Build Their Boats. Here are some suggestions:
Learn 250 new vocabulary words. A great way to learn vocabulary is to download a fun SAT vocabulary application for your ipad, ipod touch, or iphone. We suggest SAT Smart Vocab (http://bit.ly/95bnIp), created by a top tutoring company here in NYC.
Math Boot Camp. The SAT and ACT cover a finite amount of math material. Once you know what will be tested, you can drill particular topics, such as all questions which deal with the features of circles, quadrilaterals, and triangles. The Barron's SAT Math book (http://amzn.to/eszyZN) has a great section which will help you build up your math. Don't bother too much with the practice questions; they are a bit over-complicated.
Grammar Rules. Satellite has boiled down the SAT writing section to ten basic grammar rules. The ACT requires only a few additional rules. Ask us how to access them now and get ready to ace the grammar section.
Wishing you a fun and productive new year!!!!
Look out for our second campaign next week!
