3D MapView Mobile for iPhone and BlackBerry

The development of the new 3D MapView Mobile product line for Apple's iPhone/iPod/iPad Touch platform is progressing well. We're very pleased to be able to bring the incredible experience of photo realistic 3D maps to mobile platforms, where especially GPS enabled devices gives us the ability to release new and exciting mobile 3D map applications. We’re now in the progress of adding support for 3D StreetView and 3D Panorama imagery so you can seamlessly switch between 3D maps to 3D streetview onto 3D interiors on your device. 3D MapView Mobile will work over both 3G and WiFi networks and offers real time 3D maps for your present location. The mobile version will naturally give you the ability to zoom, pan, and rotate the map in 3D as well. We’ve made the following demo available on YouTube to give you an early glimpse of the technology:

Coupled with our Mobile Overlay API functionality - the 3D Mobile Map display can be populated with anything from POI (Point of Interest) data to information such as; public transportation, directions, retail locations, virtual coupons offers, nearby real estate objects for sale etc.

We have also started development on 3D MapView Mobile for the BlackBerry Storm2, which will have the same functionality as the iPhone version. You can see some screenshots below of the first running prototype.

New developer at myVR Software

As our business is growing we’re adding more developers and our newest addition to the development team is Olivier Chatry. Olivier joins us from the Norwegian game development company Funcom known for games such as Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. He will be working as a software developer on our core 3D technology team. Olivier is French, and when he’s not coding he enjoys cooking French food (obviously), playing games and driving RC cars. We’re very pleased to have him on our development team.
