Evolution Evolved: 1.0.2 Released
Since the last newsletter many things have transpired in the MODx community and project. A successful 1.0 release was followed by 1.0.1 (which felt more like a 1.1) and now 1.0.2. Some 1.0.2 improvements:
- Parser Improvement—The 1.0.2 parser now allows snippets to be split across multiple lines ignoring whitespace. In line with the behavior in Revolution, this should be a great workflow tweak for developers building and maintaining websites.
- Security—MODx maintains its focus on keeping you and your websites as safe as possible, closing multiple potential exploits.
- ManagerManager—ManagerManager is now a part of the core distribution. This Plugin uses jQuery to allow you to completely customize the Manager experience for end users. All the benefits of a custom CMS for end users while maintaining the advantages of a large and growing Open Source project.
- QuickManager—MODx now also includes a new front end content editor implementation that should continue to see ongoing improvements. In addition, it leverages all the power of ManagerManager so you even get customized front end editing, too.
- New Installer—Developers, you can now build custom distributions more easily and faster.
Today marks the 1.0.2 release, and it should be considered a mandatory upgrade. Upgrade your installs today

A Teaser. An iPod.
Big—no, make that huge—things are in store for MODx in 2010. We can't share all the details yet, but suffice it to say the MODx ecosystem should grow tremendously in 2010. We can say that our MODxpo in Dallas won't be the only one next year and the USA won't be the only country in which they'll occur, but that's just the beginning. We hope you get on board with the MODx platform you helped make so great, and that we can help you to prosper and grow in the years to come. Exciting times are in store.
Anyone that provides a full (and real) profile will also be entered into a drawing to win a MODx-green engraved iPod shuffle and the very first MODx t-shirt off the press, too. Update your profile for a chance to win
The Revolution Marches On
MODx Revolution 2.0 also made it one step closer to GA with its latest beta release. The remaining work consists of testing PHP 5.1+ only compatibility and there should be one last beta for that purpose. Early PHP 5 optimization tests show noticeable performance improvements and we expect Manager and core code optimizations to continue this trend. Read the complete Beta-4 Announcement for more details, and look for our last public beta before the end of November.
Those Darned Bugs
We recently addressed a bug with the Single Sign On system used on the MODx websites that may not allow users to login. If you registered between May 27, 2009 and September 25th, 2009 (yes, that is a long time), you may be effected (see the forum post). To restore your login and make it right again, do the forgot password shuffle.
