Soapies Newsletter, Edition 17
2011 is upon us. A new year in which to create all sorts of new and exciting products and perhaps even venture out of our comfort zones and learn new crafts. We offer classes that can help do just that! See the sidebar to the left.
The Official History of Soapies is back after the historian has finally found the willpower to put the cookies away and get herself back to work. Good thing too as the Princess was beginning to get a bit ruffled and was tossing out terms like public flogging and an all-expense paid trip to the stockades. Sheesh!
To recap the past few months of history: Kelley, a farm girl with fiery red hair and the temper to match, was accosted by a hideous gnome and told that she was to become a Princess. As part of the Becoming, she would be unable to speak until the process was complete. We found that her step-mother was a piece of work and her father, kind and tenderhearted as he was, was powerless in the face of such cruelty. Kelley set out to make soap and after a number of disasters finally was able to create a batch that was not only safe to use, but also utterly divine. This was due entirely to a bottle of golden liquid suddenly appearing before her. Now she sits in the cellar, a prisoner of her step-mother. She has used this time to create a business plan for Soapies! (That name coming from Bronson, the gnome that accosted her so long ago and to whom she is promised in marriage. Really, if this isn't making sense may I kindly suggest that you use the link above to visit the archives and get yourself up to speed? You'll have a better understanding of how Soapies began and what Kelley has had to endure…)
So when we last left Kelley, she was busy attempting to create a logo. Suffice to say, this followed the same pattern as her attempt to create a business name. Bronson must have sensed this somehow because as she was busy working on a rather interesting rendition of a mermaid in a bathtub with hair that fell to the floor and became soap bubbles and piles of flowers, surrounded by woodland creatures and adoring townfolk - he appeared. Used to his sudden appearances by this time, Kelley barely flinched and instead just blushed slightly as he stood looking at the image with a dismayed look upon his face.
With a sweep of his arm, the wall was cleared and then, as if he were in fast-forward, he quickly sketched here and there until voila! The logo was finished. Simple yet powerful. There stood Kelley - at least a charming image of her. A poised Princes with tiara and magic wand.
Kelley clapped her hands in excitement and turned to give Bronson a hug. But as was his pattern, he was already gone and Kelley was left alone again. Except… what was this? In the center of the floor was a…
Whoops! Totally out of time. Hate when that happens!

An important note from one of our good friends...
To my Family and Friends,
The Combating Autism Bill is being reintroduced. Please contact your state senators and ask them to vote for this bill. I urge you to think of Braden and the struggles our family has endured during the past few years.
Children with autism, when cared for properly, can improve and go on to live successful lives. Please help me in this crusade.

Featured Article: Reach Out!
As some of you know, I look for ways to help someone each and every day. It can be a small way or a large way…It really makes no difference. I believe that we are a society that has gotten away from helping our neighbors and loving everyone as best we can. We can change that so easily with one small gesture a day, a week, a month or even a year.
As I was starting to write this article this morning at 7am, Bronson came into my office with a Christmas card from one of our Dead End Pest Control customers, "Mrs. Smith", we will call her. To start at the beginning, about a year ago, Mrs. Smith called me crying hysterically. She explained that her husband had just passed away and that she would have to cancel her service as she was dealing with a multitude of legal matters that were yet unsolved before his untimely passing. She said she was very afraid of the critters we have here in Arizona but she had no choice but to cancel the service. I told her that we were not going to let her go without service…period. I explained that we have a policy for these types of situations that we continue service at no charge until the family is back on their feet. She was very thankful and accepted my offer.
This morning, Bronson gave me a Christmas card that came in the mail from Mrs. Smith. He had tears in his eyes…He is a very sensitive man and that is why I love him so much. The card held a very sweet message and a check for $100. The message reads:
Bronson and Family…
I realize this check is just a fraction of what is owed, but I appreciate all the help you and others are giving me. Hope this Christmas finds you and your family in good health. Recently, a doctor gave me a cancer diagnosis which you can imagine has caused me considerable despair since I have an invalid mother to take care of. And of course, the lawyers are still on my case along with the other vultures since 2003! Go figure. THANK GOD, my sweetheart doesn’t need to endure any more of this horrific life. Love one another and enjoy each day!
Thanks again for all your help,
Mrs. Smith
I have to tell you….That completely choked me up. She has been through so much and now this cancer diagnosis…Just too much! We will be returning her check with a nice note explaining that she does not owe us anything for her past services and that she needs to take care of herself and her mother and not worry about us or lawyers. On behalf of our Mrs. Smith, please make a kind gesture this week to help someone in need or give a small gift to the Cancer Society.
Toodles and Smoochies to you all...
Princess Kelley!
