Gustaf Kamp (BS Arch 1993)
has joined Waterleaf Architecture. Gus brings 12 years of architectural planning, design and construction experience with a focus on emergency service projects including extensive fire and rescue work.

Matt Weber, a graduate student working with researchers in the Center for Geographic Information Systems, was appointed Outstanding Student of the Year for his work on location-based services by software company ESRI.

Associate professor Mark Cottle was invited to participate in a curated exhibition in Bologna as part of the Giornata del Contemporaneo on Oct. 3 organized by Italian modern art museum MAMbo.

Richard Braunstein
, Industrial Design instructor and product development manager at YKK AP, received a Silver IDEA award for his work on sun control product ThermaShade, and won a spot in Buildings Magazine’s Top 100 Products for his Luminance Interior Light Shelf System.  More on Thermashade>>   More on Luminance>>

High Line Designer to Give Inaugural Douglas C. Allen Lecture
For the inaugural lecture endowed in his name last year, senior associate dean Douglas C. Allen selected a luminary who many say is re-inventing landscape architecture. James Corner, founder and director of james corner field operations, will take the stage in the newly renovated Reinsch-Pierce Family Auditorium on Monday, Nov. 2.

ID Alum establishes Interdisciplinary Design Professorship
A recent commitment from James L. Oliver II (ID 1965, ME 1967) recently endowed an Interdisciplinary Design faculty member to be jointly appointed by the deans of the Colleges of Architecture and Engineering, with a mandate to promote design education across disciplines.

Georgia Tech researchers recently presented findings on access and “gropability” of garments at the International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC), part of the ARS Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria.


Tech Tower Playhouse raffleStudents Build Tech Tower Replica for HomeAid Atlanta's Project Playhouse
The Tech Tower playhouse is one of three playhouses that will be raffled off in a fundraiser for HomeAid Atlanta. Raffle tickets will be sold at Tech football games and online. HomeAid builds and maintains transitional housing for the homeless.
