The Yummy Time of Year Coming up with ideas for marketing and branding, in usual ways, is a constant battle. Add to it the major shopping, decorating, baking and cooking of this yummy time of year and it can be quite daunting!
But then, I opened an email and found my client Great Southern Music had discovered a way to combine branding and decor into one round Jack-O-Lantern. This is priceless! I hope you find as creative a way to mix your business with the holidays this year too! (Pumpkin carved by Steve Landis) The Incredible Marketing Tip Social Media I'm sure you've heard this buzz phrase a lot lately. I am far from an expert in this field - yet! I would have to say: I have mastered Facebook, become friends with LinkedIn, all but divorced MySpace and stubbornly (with feet firmly planted!) avoided joining any other social media avenues. Then this thing called Twitter came along. I was skeptical. As of this writing, I have only recently joined the Twitter Universe - and I mean recently as in TODAY. Why now? It's the result of attending a series of "Social Media" Skype meetings. They have opened my eyes to what a well-balanced social media presence can do for my company. I have been convinced! How about you? Already on Twitter? Start following Gamut Design - we'll be tweeting your way! You can also link to us on LinkedIn and become a fan of ours on Facebook. The Amazing Design Tip Visual hierarchy is important whether you are designing a promotional flyer, a billboard or a restaurant menu. Simply put, visual hierarchy is planning how a consumer/client is going to take in the information before them. You decide what is most important and design your piece accordingly. Size and placement are the key factors in planning your visual heirarchy. If each item takes up about the same amount of space on the page, then it just looks like clutter. Avoid clutter!
White space helps too. It gives the eye a place to rest AND it can actually help direct the consumer to the next item you want them to see. By the way, white space can be any color - not just white :) See you in the social media tweets!
