Disney Cruise Line Mega-Mail Dear <<First Name>>, Today we have some exciting announcements about the NEW Disney cruise itineraries for 2011 (including Alaska, from Vancouver), as well as two great "kids cruise free" offers - in the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.
Plus we have included - a "Disney cruise primer" (see sidebar at right) for those of you that don't know anything about Disney Cruise Line, and/or why they might be the perfect choice for your next family vacation...
- a reminder about their "Northern Capitals" cruises for 2010 (including an overnight stay in St Petersburg, Russia)
- a small teaser about some great enhancements on Castaway Cay (Disney's private island). Phew!
And, while we are concentrating on the Disney Cruise Line in this newsletter, please remember that the amazing "Free Dining" Promotion is still on for Walt Disney World, for dates right through the fall... Click here for details of that one... Remember, to take advantage of this promotion you must book by Sept 26th! All the best, Alex, Edmundo and Warna @ Let's Take the Kids Travel P.S. You can keep up to date with all things Disney-travel-related at Alex's blog http://lttkdisney.blogspot.com 1. Kids Sail Free in the Mediterranean Disney's cruises in the Mediterranean in 2010 are all of the 10 and 11-day variety and offer amazing, interesting and educational ports of call, in Malta, Tunisia, Italy, France and Spain. I mention educational, as I truly believe that you will be happy to take your kids out of school for this promotion - there's tons of history and geography to be leaned! The sailing dates for this promotion are between April 24th, 2010 and May 26th, 2010. While there is no actual "last booking date" to take advantage of this offer, space is limited, so if you are interested you should book as early as you can, as prices continue to increase (as per most cruise bookings) the later you book... Accommodations can range from standard "inside cabins" right up to the deluxe balcony staterooms (but not suites). Kids up to 17 years of age sail for free, as long as they are travelling with 2 paying adults. For more information, click on this flier. 2. And now Kids Cruise Free in Caribbean Too! If Europe is not in your immediate future, you do not have to be left out! Disney Cruise Line is offering "kids cruise free" for their 3-night and 4-night cruises from Port Canaveral too. There is a much wider choice of dates for this special. - most 3-night cruises January 7th - April 15th 2010
- most 4-night cruises January 10th - April 11th 2010
Child fares on these shorter cruises are not particularly high, so you are not saving as much as with the Mediterranean promotion, but still - who wouldn't take several hundred dollars of savings when offered! Again, kids must share the same stateroom as 2 paying adults, and the taxes and port charges must still be paid for the "free" kids! The number of staterooms allocated for this offer is limited. Other special offers, discounts or onboard credits do not apply. 3. Breaking News! BRAND NEW 2011 Itineraries including Alaska from Vancouver... Announced last Friday, now we know where the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic will be in 2011. Disney Wonder - Departing Jan 6th 2011, the Disney Wonder will leave its home port of Port Canaveral (for the last time?) and do a spectacular 14-day repositioning cruise via the Panama Canal to its new home in Los Angeles.
- From Jan 23rd- April 26th - the ship will be doing 7-day cruises along the MEXICAN RIVIERA, taking in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas
- Repositioning cruise - California to Vancouver - 27th April
- May 3rd - Aug 30th SUMMER IN ALASKA. 7 night cruises, featuring Tracy Arm glacier, Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchican - departing from Vancouver (yay - Canada!)
- Sept 20th - repositioning cruise back to California
- Sept 25th - 18th December - Mexican Riviera again
Disney Magic - January to May - From Port Canaveral - 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries in January to May,
and back by popular demand, it will reposition to - the Mediterranean in the summer, for a season of 10 and 11 night itineraries out of Barcelona, Spain
returning to sail - the alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries September to December.
There isn't room in this email to give full details of the repositioning cruises etc, but if you are interested in knowing more, then please contact us. Also, see the sidebar (at right) for a summary of the new cruise itineraries. If you want to book any of these options, you should know that they will go on sale to the general public on 28th Sept 2009. (Though, if you have been on 5 or more previous Disney cruises - and are therefore Gold or Platinum members of the "Castaway Club" - you can book one week earlier...) As with most cruises, price-wise you just cannot lose by booking well in advance. The prices are as low as they get, and even if a better promotion comes along, you will usually be able to get it anyway. Additionally, you can cancel without penalty (if your circumstances change, for example) right up to the final payment deadline, so your financial "risk" is really eliminated - unlike most types of vacation... Contact us by email, or phone at 613-594-5633 to get us primed to make your booking for you on the 28th September... (we will be able to "hold" your booking so you can decide once you know the price, but in the meantime you will have an actual booking...)
4. A reminder about the Northern Capitals Cruise for 2010 (sorry to keep jumping around from 2010 to 2011!)
While this is not exactly new, we have not mentioned it so far; we think it could certainly be interesting for some of you...
"Disney Cruise Line sets sails for Russia in 2010..." The Disney Magic will be in Europe for 5 months of Northern European and Mediterranean itineraries. For the first time DCL is offering 12-night "Northern Capital" cruises, taking in Scandinavian fjords, city centers, including Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm, also Germany and St. Petersburg. The ship stays in port overnight in St Petersburg, giving you the option to take an extended day trip into Moscow on the second day. Pretty unique!
The Disney Magic cruises from Dover in the United Kingdom, for 4 cruises in June and July, 2010.
5. Castaway Cay - new and improved
Already finished or coming soon, there are lots of extras, improvements and enhancements on Disney's private Bahamian paradise, Castaway Cay...
Just some of the highlights:- family beach extended
- more dining choices on the island (included)
- private beach cabanas to rent
- "Pelican Plunge" huge new floating water-fun structure at the family beach
- "Spring-a-leak" water play-area fun zone - featuring a splash-pad, water jets and more
- a new water play-area as part of "Scuttles Cove" (the existing kids play area for the younger kiddies)
- new teen "Hide-out"
- massage cabanas at the adults-only beach
- extended paths for the tram shuttles from the ship (to make getting around even easier still)
I can't wait to go back! Even before these enhancements, Castaway Cay was a real highlight of any Disney cruise. Now it'll be even better.
We look forward to helping make your family's cruise vacation dreams come true! |
Disney Cruise Line Primer For more than a decade now, Disney have taken their unique brand of magic onto the high seas, offering a family cruising experience that is still unsurpassed in the industry. On both of the present Disney ships (two more are being built as we speak), you’ll discover something magical for every member of your family with separate areas for kids, teens, adults and families. The Disney ships (the Disney Wonder & Disney Magic) introduced many innovations such as: - the convenience of a split bathroom
- day-long kids programming,
- Broadway-style evening shows,
- rotational dining (where you rotate around the various family-friendly dining rooms, always accompanied by your own waiters)
- and much more...
Of course, you also get to explore lots of cool places (including Disney's own private tropical island) while only having to unpack once!
We feel that, particularly for very young children, the Disney cruise ships offer all the Disney magic, characters etc. in a compact environment, with fantastic, organised activities, and with a bit more of a chance for Mom and Dad to actually get some relaxing adult time.
Also, while lots of other cruise lines offer kids programming, there is nothing that comes close to the scale and scope of the kids programs on the Disney ships. On almost a complete deck of the ship your kids can have fun; programs start at 7AM and finish at 1 AM the next morning! (though we assume that you would like to see your kids for at least some of your vacation...!
Two of our agents have sailed on the Disney ships, and had unforgettable, wonderful Disney experiences. Links:

Disney are keeping this close to their chest, still... But would it be too much of a stretch to imagine it doing something out of Port Canaveral in conjunction with some kind of Walt Disney World package? (The one things that I do know, is that the Disney Dream will have Port Canaveral as its home port...)Please note this is just speculation on our part - we have no insider knowledge...
