Dear Friends, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Northern California Cancer Center’s prevention research addresses all cancers, but we have exceptionally deep expertise in breast cancer, which remains a serious health concern for women in all walks of life. Additionally, we provide a number of unique and critical services that address breast cancer specifically, some of which are detailed below. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, please take a look and share this information with your friends and loved ones. Breast Cancer Research and Registry Data NCCC is proud to contribute its expertise in cancer surveillance and registries to the new and unprecedented statewide UC collaborative project known as the ATHENA Breast Health Network. Click here to learn more. NCCC’s registry data is also used to determine which groups may have more breast cancer. Learn about current rates among groups in the Greater Bay Area and California. California Teachers Study Featured in Award-Winning California Educator Magazine NCCC and collaborators throughout the state have been conducting research for the California Teachers Study since it began in 1995. The continuing health study of over 133,000 female teachers focuses on lifestyle, medical history and various women’s health issues. A tribute to California teachers’ participation in this research was published in the September issue of California Educator.
